Tutorial Tuesday -for kids!

This week I'm doing the tutorial and it is something for kids (or playful adults *grins*).

I volunteer doing crafts with kids at my local library and this is what we made this morning.
It's a rainstick/musical shaker.

You'll need:
-a piece of 8.5 by 11 inch paper
-a paper towel tube
-tape
-stapler
-crayons
-a piece of aluminum foil
-dried rice and dried peas
Color the paper with a fun pattern and set aside. Fold over one end of the tube and staple closed.
***

Slightly crumple up the aluminum foil but not too tightly! Slide it into the tube.
***

Leave enough room to fold down the edge of the cardboard later.
***

Pour in the dried peas and the rice
***

Roll the paper around the tube and tape along the seam.
***

Lastly you fold over the edge of the paper and cardboard together, but opposite the way the other end is, and staple. You can add tape to the other end to hold the paper down if you need to

All done! Now you can make beautiful music. ;-)

*tip, if the staples don't fold down all the way, they can leave sharp points.
A few pieces of tape will cover it
