On The Road: Thanksgiving Weekend 2009

Not a fan of Black Friday? Does “Crafty Saturday/Sunday” sound more like your cup of tea? Then check out who’s hitting the road this Thanksgiving weekend:

JulieB’sJewels, Little Dandelion Studios , Odd Stuff By Xanthe, Mirasol Farm, Kim’s Crafty Apple, The Apple and Whimsy House will be at the 5th Annual Holiday Craftacular at the Madison Masonic Center (301 Wisconsin Avenue) in Madison, Wisconsin from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009. The event is a showcase of handmade goods by over 60 local artists and crafters. Vendors will be selling jewelry, clothing, handbags, coasters, picture frames, soaps and baby gifts. The first 50 shoppers will receive a free goody bag. When you get there, please make sure you stop and see all the crafters located in the classroom . . . they’re just as fabulous as the ones in the ballroom!

Bobbi, of Kitty Grrlz, KittyGrrlz.com and Kitty Grrlz Knits, will be at ART VS CRAFT at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center (790 N. Van Buren St.) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009. This event is Milwaukee’s first DIY (Do-It-Yourself) indie market showcasing 70+ unique and talented artists and crafters. The perfect place to buy local and handmade for the holidays! Admission is $3, while children aged 13 and under are free. Bobbie will be selling hand spun yarns of all types and hand knit scarves, hats, shawls, cowls and wrist warmers.

Marlene, of Country Soaps by Marlene, will be at Randolph High School in Randolph, Wisconsin from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009. Admission is free, although free-will donations to a local area food pantry of non-perishable or personal care items would be greatly appreciated. This event consists of 60+ booths with baked goods and lunch served all day. Marlene will be selling her goats milk soaps and other bath related items for the third year.

Molly Bernier, of Whimsy House, will be at the “Close to Home – Arboretum Local Products Expo” at the UW-Madison Arboretum Visitors Center (1207 Seminole Hwy. in Madison, Wisconsin from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 29, 2009. This event focuses on “Celebrating Sustainability, Recycling and Locally Produced Goods” with more than 20 vendors, art, edibles and gifts taking center stage, showcasing local enterprise and creativity while giving shoppers an opportunity to support the local economy. Admission is free. Whimsy House will be selling upcycled accessories fashioned from vintage buttons and findings, felted wool and leather.
