Member Feature: Meet Cabotique

This week we get to know Cary, owner of Cabootique at Cary's fascination with jewelry began when she would deck herself out in costume jewelry as a kid. More recently, she came to the realization that she, too, could create jewelry, and began to learn as much as she could through researching tutorials and practice. Her first project was taking apart a pair of earrings she already owned, adding more beads and putting them back together.

Cary finds her inspiration for her work in nature and through color and vintage pieces. "I love repurposing old vintage jewelry and making it into something modern, but with a vintage twist," she says. She loves interacting with her customers - answering their questions and hearing what they have to say about her jewelry.

I asked Cary about her biggest challenge. "Keeping up with my blog, Twitter and Facebook page," she says. "I'm getting better, though, because promotion is important!" Someday she would like to learn metal smithing, something she has not yet done.

Other interests include music and dancing. Cary has been dancing since a very young age, and plays various instruments. She also likes cooking and baking. Her top five in Music, Book and Movies follow:
Music: Johnny Gallagher, The Spring Standards, The Doors, Beethoven, Tony Vincent
Books: The Poet in Exile, Noises Off!, Beethoven's Hair, American on Purpose: The Improbable Adventures of an Unlikely Patriot, Frühlings Erwachen
Movies: Illusion, Newsies, La Vita e Bella, Beethoven Lives Upstairs, On the Town

In addition to her Etsy shop, Carbootique can be found on her blog, Twitter and Facebook page. Facebook Fans an Twitter or Blog followers are currently being offered 10% discount and free shipping.
